Autism Awareness Day 2025 Devlog
Well, it's been almost two months since the last devlog. Time really does fly when you’re deep in game development, right?
Did I say developing Megumi's activities/jobs before? Yes! Lately, I’ve been diving into a bit of a worldbuilding rabbit hole (the fun kind, of course!) while working on Megumi’s activities and jobs. One of the standout features I’m focusing on is her odd-job gig (job/activity tied to Talent stat), "Megumi’s Cute and Lovely Podcast." At first, it might look like just another fanservice-y addition, but I promise there’s so much more happening beneath the surface. The podcast serves as a fun way to share some rich worldbuilding lore (and I swear it’s entertaining! If not you may just hold ctrl and revisit next time lol). For instance, I’ve crafted segments of the podcast that feature two characters representing autism in the game—a "rival" chika idol unit leader and a mysterious indie model. These interactions aren’t just random filler; they’re thoughtfully designed to be meaningful and reflective, connecting to the broader themes of the game.
To-do list by end of April (which mostly revolves around Megumi's odd-jobs and Talent stat):
- Laying out how the interview podcast mechanic works.
- Wrap up the existing interview podcast episodes.
- Make CGs for Megumi's Talent Limit Break.
- Develop Megumi's Independent Training.
- Develop 100 fan letter queries. This will allow players to engage with Megumi’s audience by responding to letters from fans—some heartfelt, some silly, and some just plain bizarre. (Autistic brains are nothing if not imaginative!)
- Create 20 Idol Insights (or maybe even 50 if I’m feeling ambitious).
I'll give you the updated build after all of them are done.
As someone who truly cares about meaningful representation, I’m committed to making sure that autistic players can see themselves in the Utopian Project series—not just as a stereotype, but as fully developed characters who have depth, agency, and joy. I also hope that non-autistic players come away with a deeper understanding of autism, recognizing the beauty and complexity of neurodivergent experiences. So, that’s the current situation. Progress may be slow, but it’s steady—and always filled with a lot of heart. Thanks for tuning in, and happy Autism Awareness Day! 💚NB: light it up red? light it up blue? WHO CARES, PAINT IT SAGIRI GREEN!! Because it's Emina, duh. Also this is the closest we can get to Sagiri Green.
